What We Believe
It is not sufficient to say you believe something just because you inherited it. There is no doubt everyone holds a worldview and everybody believes in something. We believe the Bible comprises of truth about God, our relationship with Him and His purposes in the world. The present cultural currents mean that every individual today is confronted with a staggering number of ideologies, lifestyles and faith options, all competing for their attention. Whereas, at Renewal, we want the name of Jesus Christ to be known.
Together, we want this be a welcoming, loving, supportive community; one of grace and generosity but clear in what we believe and stand for. This is our foundation in the context we find ourselves in, where people can get to know who we are alongside what we believe!
Our Beliefs
We Believe in the Gospel
The gospel is the good news of God’s grace invading the darkness of this world. It is the grand narrative of creation, fall, redemption, and consummation ordained by God and orchestrated through the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ. Christ’s crucifixion is the heart of the gospel. His resurrection is the power of the gospel. His ascension is the glory of the gospel. His second coming is the completion of the gospel.
Doctrine of God
We believe in one God eternally existing as one essence and three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, each of whom is fully God, yet there is one God.
Doctrine of Revelation
God has made Himself known to the world in Jesus Christ, the Scriptures, and creation.
Doctrine of Providence
We believe that God created the world from nothing and governs all things at all times in all places.
Doctrine of Humanity
We believe that all humanity is created in the image of God and possesses intrinsic dignity and worth.
Doctrine of Sin
We believe that sin has fractured all humans and creation, leaving the world in desperate need of salvation.
Doctrine of Salvation
We believe that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.
Doctrine of the Church
We believe that the Church is the body of Christ sent into the world to shine forth the glory of God.
Doctrine of the New Creation
We believe that Jesus Christ is returning to the world in the future to judge the living and the dead.
What We Do
Bring to light babylon
Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens,
so that we may make a name for ourselves; (Genesis 11.4)
With her the kings of the earth committed adultery, and the inhabitants of the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries.” (Revelations 17:2)
Reclaim our identity
Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh,
which wage war against your soul. (1 Peter 2:11)
In the same way, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. 6 And if it is by grace, then it is no longer by works. Otherwise, grace would no longer be grace. (Rom 11:5)
But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, (Philippians 3:20)
Live out in worship
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice,
holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” (Romans 12:1)
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
